Hudební formaci Hlaskontrabas Oktet tvoří čtyři zpěvačky a čtyři kontrabasisté. Vznikl v roce 2019 rozšířením původně dvojčlenného projektu Hlaskontrabas, který založili česká vokalistka, skladatelka a performerka Ridina Ahmedová a kontrabasista a skladatel Petr Tichý. Úplně na počátku rozšíření sestavy na čtyři hlasy a čtyři kontrabasy stál nápad místo looperu, který Ridina a Petr používali na koncertech k vrstvení stop přes sebe, využít živé hudebníky, kteří do skladeb vnesou vlastní interpretační duši. Ale ukázalo se, že psaní skladeb přímo pro oktet nabízí možnost jinak aranžovat a hudebně přemýšlet. A oktet začal žít svým vlastním hudebním životem. Životem čilým, unikátním a inspirativním!
The Hlaskontrabas Oktet consists of four female singers and four double bassists. It was formed in 2019 as an extension of the original two-member project Hlaskontrabas, founded by Czech vocalist, composer and performer Ridina Ahmedová and double bassist and composer Petr Tichý. At the very beginning of the expansion to four voices and four double basses was the idea to use live musicians to bring their own interpretive soul to the songs instead of the looper that Ridina and Petr used to layer tracks over each other at concerts. But it turned out that writing pieces directly for the octet offered the opportunity to arrange and think musically differently. And the octet took on a musical life of its own. A vibrant, unique and inspiring life!
